Charlotte Kenward gilder in Sussex

Charlotte Kenward - Gilder Brighton

Charlotte studied Interior Design & Decorative Surfaces along with a City & Guilds in Gilding in 1999. After completing her courses Charlotte was fortunate to gain training with Master Gilding Conservator Norman Stevens at the Brighton’s exotic Royal Palace, The Royal Pavilion.

Charlotte has worked on many private and public commissions and in 2013 Charlotte returned to the Royal Pavilion for an extensive contract in the Saloon. The work included water gilding of historic Bielefeld Papier-mâché frames which hold His Majesty's Crimson Silk panels and an array of gilded architectural features.

Charlottes background in Interior Design allows her to entwine the traditional gilding artform with modern interior architecture.

Charlotte is passionate about using traditional recipes and techniques in order to stay true to the original form and craft which dates back many hundreds of years. Charlotte’s expertise & techniques lie within; water gilding and oil gilding.
